The Hospital Window

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.

Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those one-hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it. In his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days and weeks passed. One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

'The Law of the Garbage Truck

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so...

"Love the people who treat you right.

Pray for the ones who don't.

Life is ten percent what you make it, and

Ninety percent how you take it!”

A Story that I recently came across:

"One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.

So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!' This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so...

'Love the people who treat you right.

Pray for the ones who don't.'

Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!"

Enough is Enough

To Who May Concern;
I read this from somewhere i find it very meaningful.  So i would like to tell the whoever that enough is enough. Walk out from your stupid past and do a life. Ya, a new life.  Everybody has their freedom.
"
Every human being has the right to choose how they feel; you can choose happiness or sadness.

You may be depressed or heartbroken, over something that may have happened to you or something you did a long time ago, maybe even years ago, to yourself or to others. But you need not stay in that depressed state any longer.

There is no need to carry that pain any longer inside of your heart, day after day, year after year. You must not let it grow continuously because soon enough, that one issue you are sad or depressed about will turn into your normal way of thinking. Negative thinking has a domino effect!

When one door closes in life, another one will open, but if you do not let go of the pains of yesterday, the joys of today and tomorrow will never, ever be discovered. They will be overshadowed by your misery. You must let go of the past to be happy. There is no ifs, ands, or buts!!!!!!!

Quit living negatively in the past, and focus on what you can do about today and in the future. You see, what happened in the past, you have no control of, today. You cannot do a thing about it, so why live there?

Start living and loving the things you can control such as this beautiful day or maybe call a friend that you had a relationship with that turned bad and re-kindle it. Go out and create joyous experiences and turn happiness into a constant way of thinking.

Enough is enough... Do you not agree??

Do not let the torments and regrets of yesterday live in you deep enough, to cover your progression and happiness for today.

The Colour Of Friendship

Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel.

All claimed that they were the best.
The most important.
The most useful.
The favorite.

Green said:

"Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and of hope. I was chosen for grass, trees and leaves. Without me, all animals would die. Look over the countryside and you will see that I am in the majority."

Blue interrupted:

"You only think about the earth, but consider the sky and the sea. It is the water that is the basis of life and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea. The sky gives space and peace and serenity. Without my peace, you would all be nothing."

Yellow chuckled:

"You are all so serious. I bring laughter, gaiety, and warmth into the world. The sun is yellow, the moon is yellow, the stars are yellow. Every time you look at a sunflower, the whole world starts to smile. Without me there would be no fun."

Orange started next to blow her trumpet:

"I am the color of health and strength. I may be scarce, but I am precious for I serve the needs of human life. I carry the most important vitamins. Think of carrots, pumpkins, oranges, mangoes, and papayas. I don't hang around all the time, but when I fill the sky at sunrise or sunset, my beauty is so striking that no one gives another thought to any of you."

Red could stand it no longer he shouted out:

"I am the ruler of all of you. I am blood - life's blood! I am the color of danger and of bravery. I am willing to fight for a cause. I bring fire into the blood. Without me, the earth would be as empty as the moon. I am the color of passion and of love, the red rose, the poinsettia and the poppy."

Purple rose up to his full height. He was very tall and spoke with great pomp:

"I am the color of royalty and power. Kings, chiefs, and bishops have always chosen me for I am the sign of authority and wisdom. People do not question me! They listen and obey."

Finally Indigo spoke, much more quietly than all the others, but with just as much determination:

"Think of me. I am the color of silence. You hardly notice me, but without me you all become superficial. I represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep water. You need me for balance and contrast, for prayer and inner peace."

And so the colors went on boasting, each convinced of his or her own superiority. Their quarreling became louder and louder. Suddenly there was a startling flash of bright lightening thunder rolled and boomed. Rain started to pour down relentlessly. The colors crouched down in fear, drawing close to one another for comfort.

In the midst of the clamor, rain began to speak:

"You foolish colors, fighting amongst yourselves, each trying to dominate the rest. Don't you know that you were each made for a special purpose, unique and different? Join hands with one another and come to me."

Doing as they were told, the colors united and joined hands.

The rain continued:

"From now on, when it rains, each of you will stretch across the sky in a great bow of color as a reminder that you can all live in peace. The Rainbow is a sign of hope for tomorrow."

And so, whenever a good rain washes the world, and a Rainbow appears in the sky, let us remember to appreciate one another.

Give your 100%

A boy and a girl were playing together. The boy had a collection of marbles. The girl had some sweets with her. The boy told the girl that he will give her all his marbles in exchange for her sweets. The girl agreed.

The boy kept the biggest and the most beautiful marble aside and gave the rest to the girl. The girl gave him all her sweets as she had promised.

That night, the girl slept peacefully. But the boy couldn't sleep as he kept wondering if the girl had hidden some sweets from him the way he had hidden his best marble.

Moral of the story: If you don't give your hundred percent in a relationship, you'll always keep doubting if the other person has given his/her hundred percent.. This is applicable for any relationship like love, friendship, employer-employee relationship etc., Give your hundred percent to everything you do and sleep peacefully .

The present - Time

Imagine there was a bank that credited your very own accounteach morning with a large sum of money. But, it carried over nobalance from day to day. Every evening it deleted whatever partof the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do?

Draw out all of it, of course!

Each of us has such a bank. Its name is - Time

Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds.Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you havefailed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft.

Each day it makes a new deposit for you.
Each night it burns the remains of the day.
If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours.
There is no going back.
There is no drawing against the "tomorrow."
You must live in the present on today's deposits.
Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success!

The clock is running.
Make the most of today.

And remember thattime waits for no one.Yesterday is history.Tomorrow is mystery.Today is a gift. That's why they call it The Present!

A glass of Milk

One day, a poor boy, who was selling goods from door to door topay his way through school, found he had only one thin dimeleft, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal atthe next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely youngwoman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drinkof water. She thought he looked hungry so she brought him alarge glass of milk.

He drank it slowly, and then asked, How much do I owe you? "Youdon't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught usnever to accept pay for a kindness."

He said... "Then I thank you from my heart."

As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt strongerphysically, but his faith in God and man was stronger also. Hehad been ready to give up and quit.

Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.

Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once.

He went back to the consultation room determined to do his bestto save her life. From that day he gave special attention toher case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won.

Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final billto him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something onthe edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to openit, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to payfor it all. Finally she looked, and something caught herattention on the side of the bill. She read these words.....

Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thankyou, God , that Your love has spread through human hearts andhands."

There's a saying which goes something like this: "Bread cast onthe waters comes back to you. The good deed you do today maybenefit you or someone you love at the least expected time. Ifyou never see the deed again at least you will have made theworld a better place." And, after all, isn't that what life isall about?

Anger

There was a little boy with a bad temper.
His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every timehe lost his temper to hammer a nail in the back fence.
The first day the boy had driven thirty-seven nails into thefence.
Then it gradually dwindled down.He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drivethose nails into the fence .
Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper atall.
He told his father about it and the father suggested that theboy now pull out a nail for each day that he was able to holdhis temper.
The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell hisfather that all the nails were gone.
The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in thefence. The fence will never be the same.

Have Faith

When our prayers seem unanswered,
When we don't get what we want,
When things are taken away from us,
When everything seems to go wrong...

It's God's way of saying "No... But I have something better for you."

Like a child,
we only hear the "No",
We lament,
We complain,
We cry unfairness,
We wallow in self-pity.

We don't listen... "There is something better for you."

Just wait. Have faith.

Love & Marriage

A student asks a teacher: “What is love?”

The teacher said, “In order to answer your question, go to the paddyfield and choose the biggest paddy and come back. But the rule is: youcan go through them only once and cannot turn back to pick.”

The student went to the field, go through first row, he saw one bigpaddy, But he wonders…. maybe there is a bigger one later. Then hesaw another bigger one… but may be there is an even bigger onewaiting for him. Later, when he finished more than half of the paddyfield, he start to realize that the paddy is not as big as theprevious one he saw, he know he has missed the biggest one, and heregretted. So, he went back to the teacher with empty hands.

The teacher told him, “This is love… you keep looking for a betterone, but later you realize, you have already missed the person.”

The student asked, “What is marriage then?”

The teacher said, “In order to answer your question, go to the cornfield and choose the biggest corn and come back. But the rule is: youcan go through them only once and cannot turn back to pick.” The student went to the corn field, this time he is careful not torepeat the previous mistake, when he reached the middle of the field, hepicked one medium corn that he felt satisfied, and came back tothe teacher.

The teacher told him, “This time you bring back a corn…. you lookfor one that is just nice, and you have faith and believe this is thebest one you get…. this is marriage.”

Burnt Biscuit

Mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner everynow and then. And I remember one night inparticular when she had made breakfast after along, hard day at work. On that evening, mom placeda plate of eggs, sausage and extremely burntbiscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting tosee if anyone noticed.Yet all my dad did was reachfor his biscuit, smile at my mom and ask me how myday was at school. I don't remember what I told himthat night, but I do remember watching him smearbutter and jelly on that biscuit and eat everybite!

When I got up from the table that evening, Iremember hearing my mom apologizeto my dad for burning the biscuits. And I'll neverforget what he said: "Honey, I love burntbiscuits."

Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good nightand I asked him if he reallyliked his biscuits burnt. He wrapped me in his armsand said, "Your Momma putin a hard day at work today and she's real tired. And besides - a little burntbiscuit never hurt anyone!"

You know, life is full of imperfect things.....andimperfect people. I'm notthe best at hardly anything, and I forget birthdaysand anniversaries justlike everyone else.

What I've learned over the years is that learningto accept each othersfaults - and choosing to celebrate each othersdifferences - is one of themost important keys to creating a healthy, growingand lasting relationship.

And that's my prayer for you today. That you willlearn to take the good, thebad and the ugly parts of your life. Because in theend, you are the master ofyour own life, to be happy or unhappy, to bepositive or negative. We could extend this to any relationship. In fact, understanding is the baseof any relationship, be it a husband-wife orparent-child or friendship!

"Don't put the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket - keep it in your own."

So Please pass me a biscuit, and yes, the burnt onewill do just fine ......
